Probiotic/paraprobiotic bacteria may be beneficial for sleep

A meta-analysis of sleep health

A meta-analysis of 20 trials was carried out to assess the impact of probiotic bacteria on quality of sleep. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used as the basis of self-reported questionnaires. The study found that single strain bacteria in healthy individuals was found to offer the best sleep improvement outcomes when taken for >8 weeks. Statistical significance in Probiotic/paraprobiotic supplementation in improving perceived sleep health, measured using the PSQI.
